Tiki Cards CEO Kelly O’Donnell reacts to being named the pitch competition winner at Dolphin Tank 2017.

JACKSON, MI – A spin-off of the ABC-TV reality show “Shark Tank” made a stop in Jackson on Wednesday, Nov. 1.  Working to aid women starting businesses in Michigan, the Michigan Women’s Foundation hosted its Dolphin Tank event, listening to 10 businesswomen pitch their plans.  It’s one of three Dolphin Tank events in the state, with Consumers Energy providing a combined $108,000 to the winners.

Winners were picked in two categories — a growth category focusing on businesses seeking to become large, national companies and a lifestyle category for smaller businesses that want to stay more local.  Kelly O’Donnell’s Tiki Cards earned the top spot in the growth category, followed by Nicol Pasuit’s TechStak, Karen Smoots’ TheGreenGloveDryer, Anna Dancy’s Dancy’s Fancy Butterand Ann Duchene’s The Rabbit & Mitten.

“Mom’s a Genius: Plymouth mom creates nail sticker trading cards for girls”
A Plymouth mom hopes her business will be the next big thing for girls. Kelly O’Donnell is the entrepreneur behind Tiki Cards , nail sticker trading cards for girls ages six to twelve.  “I came up with the concept of a trading card because girls that age love to collect and trade things,” says Kelly. “There wasn’t a lot for girls in terms of trading cards. There’s a lot for boys that age, but not a lot of trading cards or trading products for girls.”  Girls can collect and trade the cards with their friends, then apply the stickers for a cute and fun manicure.
